Tŷ Hafan Mums are superheroes, be a superhero too!

Please open your eyes to women who hardly close theirs; give up one night’s sleep for women who give up every night’s sleep.

We all have times when we have a bad night’s sleep. Tossing, turning and seeing every hour on the alarm clock. And if you’re a mum you’ll know all about babies and sleepless nights. But mercifully there comes a point when being yanked out of sleep every couple of hours reaches an end; and oh to discover the joy of a full night’s uninterrupted blissful slumber. Well imagine if that point didn’t arrive. Imagine if waking every couple of hours went on for years. Some mums don’t have to imagine it, they have to live it.

Night after night they wake every couple of hours, to administer medication or soothe and protect their child through a seizure; whatever the reason it means being with the child (or sometimes children) throughout the night. These incredible mums do it without question or complaint even though it puts a massive strain on their own health and family life. They are ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. Although none of them are superhuman, they are undoubtedly superheroes.

Fortunately most of us are blessed with healthy children, but not all of us. Tŷ Hafan cares for many children throughout South Wales who have been born with a devastating life-limiting condition.

Tŷ Hafan offers a range of services for life-limited children and their families, one of which is providing short break care for parents; their love for their children is unquestioning, but they do need a break from what is literally a waking nightmare.

‘Superheroes Assemble’

Your mission: be a superhero, fly (walk) around Swansea in your pyjamas at Midnight and support Tŷ Hafan Mums.

Enjoy a power walk, from the LC, under the stars and have a lot of fun with your superhero family, friends and work colleagues. Midnight is a magical hour, with the camaraderie and banter between the hundreds of women taking part creating a wonderful atmosphere. We’ll even provide you with flashing superhero headwear and a cape! So you’ll really look the part.
